Laertes serves as a foil character to Hamlet because Hamlet has been taking so much time thinking to much about killing Claudius when as soon as Laertes comes back from Paris he is already going to kill whoever killed his father
because unlike Hamlet, Laertes has a plan to kill Hamlet and he puts forth effort to make actions. and Hamlet is very indecisive and has no clue what to do about Claudius

Gabby Gutshall Laertes is a man of action and sticks to his gut. Hamlet is indecisive and changes his mind from one thing to the next. Laertes also plans what hes going to do.
Laertes does because he is able to act on his intentions, where as hamlet constantly suffers from indecision, which wil ultimately be his downfall and is the cause fo the play beign as long as it is, in all honestly a simple crossbow bolt could've finished this in act one
